The directorate is operating (3) three units, viz; Network Unit, Computer Services Unit and M.I.S Unit.

Brief Function of the Units

Network Unit: The Unit is saddled with the responsibility of handling all network activities like, Developing and Deploying Local Area Network across the University Campus, maintaining the quality Internet and Intranet Service in the University, creating and allocating username and pass words to Network users.

Curriculum:

ICT directorate does not have degree programmes of its own for now, hence we do not have any curriculum. However Certificate Programme have just been approved by the University Senate, which the Directorate hope to start running as soon as we relocate to the new site. In addition, it is imperative to provide a multidisciplinary support organ for academic/non academic computing needs of all the Schools with over thirty (30) Departments to enhance effective Research and Learning, in a University like ours. In this regard the directorate is doing its best.

Accreditation Status:

As a support Unit, the Directorate has no accreditation status requirement; we only support departments in achieving positive accreditation status.

Challenges

  1. Increasing demand for computing facilities is a big challenge facing the Directorate in the face of dwindling resources.

  2. Increasing demand for Band width in the face of increasing online and real time activities on the University website is another challenge facing the Directorate. In this regard, we need to put in place an annual bandwidth growth plan of at least 5 Mbps/5 Mbps full duplex

  3. Increasing demand for Band width speed in the face of increasing online and real time activities on the University Website is another challenge facing the Directorate. In this regard we need a “down to server” fiber optic connectivity
