Professor Mohammed Saleh Sir

BRIEF ON THE DVC

 

Professor Mohammed Saleh Sir hails from Balanga Local Government Area of Gombe State. He was born on the 17th January, 1967 and had his Primary education at Cham Central Primary School from 1975 to 1981. He proceeded to Government Secondary School Cham from 1981 to 1984 and Government Science Secondary School, Billiri from 1984 to 1986 where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate and Ordinary Level General Certificate of Education (GCE) respectively.

His desire for more knowledge propelled him to the University of Maiduguri where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science in the year 1994. After his mandatory youth service in 1995, he proceeded to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi for his Masters and earned a Master of Science Degree in Animal Science in 1999. He further enrolled for his Doctorate degree in the year 2003 and accomplished it in the year 2010 and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Animal Science in the same year and same University.

Professor Mohammed Saleh Sir began his teaching profession in July 1995 as a Graduate Assistant in Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University where he rose through the ranks to a Reader. He had Sabbatical Appointment with the Adamawa State University (ADSU), Mubi from July 2012 to June 2013 and transferred his services to Federal University of Kashere in January, 2014. He was instituted into the Professorial Chair in the year 2014 in Federal University of Kashere and he is currently the Dean, Faculty of Agriculture and a member of the University Governing Council. He is actively involved in the activities of the Council and his contributions are quite commendable.

He has also held many other responsibilities which include: as pioneer HOD, Animal Science and Director Reached and Development Federal University of Kashere, Member, Board of Studies and Examiner, Supervisor, Animal Production Research Livestock, Secretary, School of Agriculture Examination Misconduct Committee, Member, University Senate Estimate Committee, Member, Animal Production Programme DTLC Committee, School of Agriculture Congregation Representative to Senate, Acting Coordinator, Animal Production Programme and Postgraduate Coordinator, Department of Animal Production, ADSU among others.

Professor Saleh is a member of many Professional Associations. These include; Academic Staff Union of Universities, Nigerian Society for Animal Production (NSAP), Farm Management Association of Nigeria (FAMAN), World Poultry Science Association, Nigeria Chapter, Agriculture Business and Management Technology Society, Agricultural Society of Nigeria (ASN), Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN), Nigerian Institute of Animal Science and Registered Animal Scientists (RAS 830) among others.

He is happily married with nine children.
